England cricket star Ben Stokes suffered a severe black eye after an incident while coaching academy players in Durham. Stokes displayed his facial injuries on Instagram, showing bruises around his eye, scratches on his face, and a bandaged nose. Despite the mishap, Stokes maintained a sense of humor by joking about the state of the cricket ball that caused the injuries.
The injuries occurred when a young player hit a ball towards Stokes, catching him off guard as he turned his head towards the impact. Stokes was immediately taken to the hospital, where he assured the player that it was his own fault for not following the coaching rule of never turning your back on the batter.
Although recovering from a groin injury sustained during the Ashes Test, Stokes is aiming to return to action for Durham before England’s upcoming Test against Australia in June. He plans to participate in several county championship matches leading up to the Test. Stokes, who has represented England in 120 Test matches, is expected to continue his cricket career and transition into coaching after his playing days are over.
