Emma Raducanu has decided to take her time in finding a new long-term coach following her recent split with Francisco Roig. Roig, who was her ninth coach and seventh full-time coach, parted ways with the young tennis star after the Australian Open due to differences in playing style.

Currently, Raducanu is working with her hitting partner Alexis Canter and is content with this arrangement as she prepares for the upcoming Indian Wells tournament in California. While she continues to work with Mark Petchey on a daily basis, Petchey’s broadcasting commitments limit his availability for full-time coaching.

Speaking to BBC Sport in California, Raducanu expressed her desire to reconnect with her natural playing style and instincts. She emphasized the importance of not feeling pressured to stick with a coach if it does not align with her vision. Raducanu praised Petchey for his positive influence and stated her openness to exploring different coaching options in the future.

The young tennis sensation highlighted the value of personal growth and reflection, pointing to a meaningful conversation with Petchey during a hike in L.A. as a pivotal moment in her development. Raducanu is focused on honing her skills and finding the right coaching dynamic that complements her playing style.
