A visitor at the Coachella festival experienced a frightening incident resulting in a head injury. The individual was hurt when a heavy lighting fixture fell on them during the event.
The accident occurred following a surprise set by DJ and producer John Summit at the Do LaB stage on Friday. The fall of the light fixture caused one attendee to sustain a facial injury, leading to a bloody scene in the crowd.
An eyewitness described the injured attendee as being in a distressing state after the incident caused a gash on their head. Joey Freshour, who witnessed the incident, shared on Instagram how the light structure fell and struck the individual, causing a significant wound.
Detailing the incident further, Freshour mentioned that nearby audience members attempted to get medical assistance for the injured person. Eventually, three men helped transport the individual to the medical tent for necessary treatment.
In a video capturing the aftermath, the fallen light fixture was visible on the ground while the cables holding it up were shown in the footage. Freshour explained that the DJ performing was unaware of the incident, attributing it to strong winds that also affected Justin Bieber’s delayed appearance on stage the next night.
Despite weather challenges, Bieber faced criticism for what some fans perceived as a lackluster performance. Instead of an energetic show, the singer sat on a stool, played YouTube videos of his songs, and performed a short medley of 12 songs, leaving some attendees disappointed.
While some fans defended Bieber’s set as innovative, others criticized it as lazy. Opinions varied on social media, with contrasting views on the singer’s unconventional performance at Coachella.
