CBC has expanded its coverage of Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast agreement that includes increased Grand Slam of Curling playoff coverage and all Rock League games on its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, announced recently, will result in over 300 hours of combined television coverage on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.

A significant development for CBC is its involvement in Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Every game will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays. Rock League features six mixed-gender franchises with international curlers and will hold events on weekends in January and April, playing from Thursday to Sunday.

CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling as well. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for the five Grand Slam events starting in October, showcasing three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, CBC and CBC Gem will collaborate with Sportsnet+ for playoff coverage. Sportsnet will broadcast the championship finals on Sundays, while CBC will also air selected finals throughout the season. Additionally, morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.

This new agreement further solidifies CBC’s extensive history with curling, enhancing its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about continuing to share Rock League with audiences nationwide. The Curling Group sees the agreements as a significant step in expanding the national audience for both the Grand Slam and Rock League, marking a pivotal moment for the sport, according to Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group.

Canadian viewers can anticipate more comprehensive coverage over the next five years, offering increased ways to follow Grand Slam playoff weekends and the upcoming second season of Rock League on CBC.
