The upcoming 2026 Cheltenham Festival is expected to attract horse racing enthusiasts globally. Interestingly, a growing number of punters are opting to experience the festival in the Spanish town of Benidorm. This decision is driven by various factors, including the allure of the event, which kicks off at Cheltenham Races with four days of racing, betting, and socializing.

According to reports by The Sun, hotel reservations in Benidorm have surged by a remarkable 225% during the festival period. The Marina Resort Hotel has emerged as a popular choice among visitors, offering amenities such as large screen TVs, pool parties, and live DJ performances to enhance the festival experience.

Many attendees embrace the festive spirit by donning racing-themed costumes, while enjoying the benefit of more affordable drink prices in Spain. For instance, a pint in Benidorm is expected to cost around £1.70, significantly lower than the approximately £7.50 price tag at the Cheltenham venue.

Zoe Harris, the chief customer officer of package holiday firm On the Beach, expressed excitement about the growing interest in Benidorm as a Cheltenham Festival destination. The event is anticipated to draw a substantial crowd, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with cheers and celebrations.

This trend of a Cheltenham-themed trip to Benidorm coincides with several updates announced for the 2026 festival edition. Changes include reduced prices for Guinness, beers, and cider, along with the flexibility for race-goers to carry their drinks around the venue. Moreover, enhancements to the food and beverage offerings, as well as the installation of a new PA system, aim to elevate the overall festival experience.

The reintroduction of Ladies Day to the calendar has also sparked interest, particularly among female attendees. With slight adjustments to the overall venue capacity, the 2026 Cheltenham Festival promises to be a memorable and engaging event for all participants.
