Angela Rayner was speculated to potentially join ITV’s reality show “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Here” following her sudden resignation as Deputy Prime Minister last year. However, she ultimately decided against following Nigel Farage’s lead in 2022, indicating her commitment to staying active in politics post-government role.

Rayner has strategically chosen her engagements since leaving the Cabinet, advocating for various causes such as ending the two-child benefit limit, protecting leasehold reforms, advancing workers’ rights, and pushing for the release of the Peter Mandelson files.

After Labour faced challenges in recent by-elections, Rayner emphasized the need for the government to listen and reflect on its actions. In a recent speech to the Mainstream group supported by Andy Burnham, she warned that time is running out for Labour and stressed the urgency for visible change under a Labour government.

Critically, Rayner criticized the government’s immigration reforms led by Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, aligning with over 100 Labour MPs calling for a reassessment of the proposals. Known for her ability to identify brewing issues, Rayner’s intervention may prompt a government reevaluation.

Speculation surrounding Rayner’s leadership aspirations is expected to resurface in Westminster, especially as the Prime Minister faces significant challenges ahead. With upcoming council elections in England and the fate of the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments at stake, Rayner’s role following the election results could prove pivotal for Labour.
