A local man, Shamar Elkins, aged 31, has been identified as the suspect in a tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of eight children aged between one and 12. This devastating event marks the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in over two years.
According to authorities, Elkins is suspected to be the father of some of the victims. Among the 10 individuals shot, two women managed to survive the harrowing attack. One of the female victims sustained life-threatening injuries, including a gunshot wound to the head.
The tragic event unfolded on Sunday morning when the shooter targeted a location in Shreveport, leading to the horrendous loss of innocent lives. Following the initial incident, Elkins fled to Harrison Street, prompting a high-speed pursuit by law enforcement after a carjacking. Subsequently, Elkins proceeded to a third location where he was confronted and fatally shot by police.
Eyewitnesses, like Liza Demming, recalled the chaos as the suspect fled the scene. Demming described witnessing the suspect running away from the house after hearing gunshots.
