Switzerland, a renowned destination for chocolate enthusiasts, offers a delightful experience at Maison Cailler in Broc, Gruyère. This historical chocolate factory has been crafting the iconic Cailler chocolate since the late 19th century, standing as one of the world’s oldest operational chocolate factories.

Currently, visitors can explore the factory, partake in informative tours, and engage in a chocolate workshop to create delectable treats like truffles. The expansion plans for the attraction aim to transform the existing 2,000 m² space into a sprawling 30,000 m² park, promising an immersive “sensory experience” centered on a cocoa-themed journey.

With approximately 400,000 annual visitors already frequenting the site, the park’s expansion could potentially double this figure in its initial phase. The proposed enhancements include a cable car for convenient access, a ‘flying theatre’ offering picturesque views of Swiss landscapes, and a large cocoa greenhouse for a firsthand look at chocolate cultivation.

Moreover, plans feature the construction of a chocolate-themed hotel for overnight stays, catering to the desires of chocolate aficionados. Anticipated to open by 2030, the first phase of the project is set to introduce a host of exciting new offerings for visitors seeking a unique chocolate-centric experience.

Accessible by train from Montreux, Maison Cailler is conveniently located for travelers, with themed train rides providing a scenic journey through Switzerland’s picturesque landscapes. Broc itself offers a charming backdrop for exploration, whether amidst the winter snow-capped Alps or the vibrant summer greenery. Nearby attractions like the captivating Château de Gruyères and the operational cheese factory La Maison du Gruyère add to the region’s appeal, providing diverse experiences for visitors to enjoy.
