Ronnie O’Sullivan Issues Ultimatum to Snooker Organizers
Renowned snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan has made it clear that financial considerations will dictate his participation in future events. Following the sudden cancellation of the high-profile Saudi Arabia Masters, O’Sullivan emphasized that his presence at tournaments is contingent on the right compensation.
Expressing his stance, O’Sullivan declared, “I require a suitable financial incentive to compete, whether it’s in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China, or elsewhere. Without adequate compensation, I will not commit to playing.”
When questioned about the impact on his Snooker Academy, O’Sullivan remained unperturbed, stating, “I have alternative options available, so I am not overly concerned. I will assess the situation with Saudi Arabia and make decisions accordingly.”
Known for being selective with his tournament appearances, O’Sullivan highlighted the importance of sponsor support for his participation. He emphasized his enjoyment of playing and his refusal to be solely dedicated to the game, asserting his willingness to take breaks if needed.
Despite a recent defeat at the World Championship, O’Sullivan remains optimistic and plans to compete in the upcoming World Seniors Championship at the Crucible. He emphasized the necessity of balancing work commitments and personal time.
