These maps show a shift to icy blue colors, suggesting cold conditions leading to snowfall and temperatures dropping as low as -4C.
Despite the current spring season, Britons have been facing lower temperatures than usual in recent weeks. The Met Office has also warned of potential “unsettled conditions” towards the end of the month.
On April 25, parts of Scotland and northern England may experience wintry weather resembling a winter day. Snowfall is predicted to start from midnight, with significant snow coverage expected in the Scottish Highlands, Aberdeen, and the North East. Additionally, a band of snow is projected from the Scottish borders to Stoke-on-Trent, although it is anticipated to be lighter in areas from Greater Manchester to Staffordshire.
Accompanying the snow, temperatures are set to dip below freezing, with lows of -3C in the Highlands and Perth and Cross. In North Yorkshire, temperatures could reach -4C.
Throughout the day, minimal temperature fluctuations are forecasted, ranging between -2C and 4C nationwide. The snow is expected to persist into the evening before easing up significantly in the North of England.
Looking ahead, the Met Office’s long-range forecast for April 21 to April 30 hints at the potential return of unsettled weather during that period. The forecast mentions variations in weather conditions, including dry spells, sunny periods, scattered showers, and a possible return to unsettled weather by the weekend, with a chance of wintry showers in northern and eastern regions.
