A recent survey has unveiled the UK airline with the lowest customer satisfaction rating, and surprisingly, it is not Jet2, Wizz Air, or easyJet. When choosing an airline for travel, many passengers often opt for the most affordable ticket available during booking, especially with fierce competition among major budget carriers like Jet2, Wizz Air, Ryanair, and easyJet for short-haul flights. However, the choice of airline can significantly impact the overall travel experience, spanning from the reservation and embarkation procedures to the onboard customer service.

The annual customer satisfaction survey conducted by Which? among over 5,500 travelers revealed that Ryanair emerged as the poorest-performing short-haul airline. In the survey, Ryanair received a mere one star for seat comfort, while it garnered two out of five stars for its reservation process, boarding, customer service, and cabin atmosphere. In terms of value for money on short-haul routes, Ryanair secured a three-star rating, aligning it with easyJet and Wizz Air, but trailing behind Jet2, Lufthansa, TUI, and Aer Lingus.

With an overall customer satisfaction score of 55 percent in the short-haul category, Ryanair ranked at the bottom among 24 airlines. Directly ahead of Ryanair in the survey was Wizz Air, which obtained a total score of 59 percent. Wizz Air, included in the survey with 259 passengers, was awarded two stars for its booking process, boarding, customer service, and cabin ambiance, and three stars for its value for money.

A spokesperson from Wizz Air responded to the survey, criticizing the sample size used by Which?, emphasizing the airline’s growing passenger numbers and commitment to customer satisfaction. Conversely, Jet2 claimed the top spot in the rankings with a 76 percent score, earning a four-star rating for its reservation process, customer service, and value for money. A satisfied customer highlighted Jet2’s generous luggage allowance as a distinguishing factor from other budget airlines.
