A NATO member country reported an intrusion by a Russian drone during a nighttime assault on Ukraine. Romania’s defense ministry confirmed the drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in the Tulcea region. The ministry expressed concern over the breach of international norms by the drone entering Romanian airspace.
Following the incident, a team was dispatched to investigate the area near the border with Ukraine. Earlier, Romania had scrambled fighter jets in response to Russian assaults on Odesa ports. The government clarified that Russian drones did not breach Romanian airspace during the recent incident.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported significant damage to civilian and port infrastructure in Izmail due to Russian attacks. Tragically, there have been casualties, including children and elderly individuals, in the recent wave of strikes in Ukraine. An eight-year-old boy lost his life in a drone strike in Cherkasy, and a 74-year-old woman was killed in an attack on a bus stop in Zaporizhzhia.
The situation remains tense as neighboring countries monitor and respond to ongoing security threats in the region.
