Eddie Hearn has given an update on Anthony Joshua, who has returned to training at the gym following a tragic car crash that claimed the lives of two of his close friends. Joshua, 36, was in a serious accident in Nigeria resulting in the deaths of his friends and team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

Despite sustaining only minor injuries, Joshua narrowly escaped death by swapping seats before the journey. Recently, the former two-time heavyweight champion was seen back in the gym, putting on his gloves once again in Dubai.

Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter with Matchroom Boxing, met with Joshua and shared a post on Instagram, praising his resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Hearn mentioned how Joshua is appreciative of the support and love shown for his late friends.

Following the accident, there have been uncertainties regarding Joshua’s future in boxing. Hearn previously stated that Joshua would take a significant break from the sport.

Hearn emphasized the need for Joshua to have the time and space to make decisions regarding his boxing career, highlighting the emotional toll of the tragic incident on Joshua and those involved. He stressed that Joshua will ultimately determine his future in the sport.

Joshua has not addressed the speculations about his boxing future yet. He recently paid a heartfelt tribute to his friends on social media, expressing gratitude for the love and memories shared with them.

Legal proceedings against Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver involved in the crash, are set to resume soon. Kayode faces charges related to the accident, including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without due care or a valid driver’s license.
