A member of NATO had to dispatch fighter jets in response to another member state’s aircraft violating its airspace, as per reports. Greek media disclosed that the country utilized fighters to intercept Turkish F-16s and a single CN-235 naval cooperation aircraft.

Eleftheros Typos reported that five Turkish aircraft trespassed into Greek airspace in the northeastern and southeastern Aegean region today, including four F-16 fighters, two of which were armed, and a solo CN-235 naval cooperation aircraft.

The Turkish aircraft were positively identified and intercepted in adherence to international regulations, following standard procedures, with no confrontations taking place, according to local sources.

In a separate incident, RAF fighter jets were scrambled in the UK after suspicions arose about a Russian bomber nearing the UK. Two RAF Typhoons were dispatched from RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, accompanied by a Voyager refuelling jet from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, heading towards Shetland.

As reported by The Telegraph, an unidentified Russian warplane remained outside British airspace, leading to the Typhoons returning to base without the need for interception. Sources indicated that the British fighter jets’ response was part of a broader NATO reaction.

Recent activities have seen Russian warships and submarines passing near UK waters. John Healey disclosed that UK and allies tracked a Russian attack submarine and two spy submarines lingering near critical undersea cables in the North Atlantic before their withdrawal.

To counter Moscow’s “malign” actions in waters off the UK’s northern coast, a British warship and aircraft were deployed, according to the Defence Secretary. He emphasized Vladimir Putin’s attempts to exploit global distractions, labeling him as the primary threat to UK security.

Addressing Putin directly, Mr. Healey warned against any interference with UK cables and pipelines, stressing the serious repercussions of such actions. Recent weeks have witnessed increased Russian activities in the Atlantic north of the UK, prompting collaborative responses from the UK, Norway, and other allies.
