Weather forecasts indicate that up to 27 cities in the UK may experience snowfall in the upcoming days. The latest GFS weather model projects the initial snowfall to begin in regions such as the Midlands, north-west England, and northern Scotland by 6am on April 26. Birmingham is highlighted as one of the cities that could witness snow during the anticipated cold spell.

By 9am on the same day, the snow is predicted to extend across various areas in the UK, affecting regions just north of London, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the far north of Scotland. Yorkshire is also expected to see snow during this time frame.

Subsequent weather maps for midday on April 26 depict snowfall covering the north of England, the Midlands, a significant portion of Wales, and most of Scotland. Cities like Liverpool and Manchester are likely to be impacted by the snow around this period.

On April 27 at approximately 9am, the maps show widespread snow coverage across Wales, with the heaviest snowfall anticipated in the far north of Scotland and northern England. The forecast suggests that a total of 27 cities could potentially experience snow during this period.

Fortunately, the data indicates that snow accumulations are not expected to exceed 1cm in most areas. However, significant snowfall is projected in the Scottish hills, with up to six inches possible.

Looking ahead, the Met Office foresees generally warmer temperatures later in the month. Nevertheless, the national weather agency warns of “unsettled” conditions on the horizon.

According to the Met Office’s forecast for April 19 to 28, initial showers may affect the far northeast of the UK, but overall, the period is expected to be fine and dry with warm sunshine. The following week could see attempts of rain fronts from an Atlantic low, although high pressure systems may hinder their progress, leading to predominantly dry weather with sunny intervals.

As the week progresses, some eastern coasts may experience cooler temperatures, while western regions are likely to feel relatively warm. Towards the upcoming weekend and beyond, the weather is anticipated to become more unsettled with the return of rain or showers across many areas.
