Recent weather models indicate that the United Kingdom is preparing for a cold period in the upcoming weeks.

Anticipated weather patterns suggest a significant drop in temperatures across various regions, with projections showing that on April 25 and 26, the mercury could fall below 0 degrees Celsius, especially in the northern areas of the country, according to WXCharts.com data.

The cold front is expected to impact Scotland and northwest England the most. In Scotland, temperatures could reach as low as -4 degrees Celsius in cities like Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Dundee. Meanwhile, in England, locations such as Newcastle, Blackpool, and Manchester might experience temperatures dropping to -3 degrees Celsius. Other parts of England, including the Midlands and the North East, are also likely to face chilly conditions just below freezing, as reported by the Express.

The latest Met Office weather forecast covering April 18 to April 27 indicates, “A few showers may occur initially, mostly affecting the northwest where it will be windy at times.

“The weekend is expected to be dry with warm sunshine for many, albeit with cool nights. Moving into the following week, weather fronts linked to an Atlantic low-pressure system may try to move towards the UK but could face resistance from a high-pressure area to the northeast.

“Therefore, western regions are more likely to see some rain, while northern and eastern areas may enjoy dry conditions. Temperatures are expected to remain above average.”

The Express has identified eight locations that are expected to be the coldest during this cold spell, including three in Scotland like Dundee, and five in England such as Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

However, before the cold snap, some parts of the UK, like Canterbury, Kent, are likely to experience temperatures exceeding 20 degrees Celsius. A warm air mass is predicted to move north from Europe before the cold air mass sweeps over the country.
