Black influencers, leaders, and entrepreneurs in the UK are set to convene tonight for the Powerlist 2025 awards ceremony. The Powerlist, an annual ranking recognizing influential Black figures in the UK, has previously honored icons like seven-time Formula One World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton and former Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman.
Established in 2005 to showcase Black role models and honor pioneers in various industries, the Powerlist event will feature notable guests such as Eastenders star Rudolph Walker, Strictly Come Dancing pro-dancer Oti Mabuse, former Olympic athlete Dame Denise Lewis, and comedian Sir Lenny Henry.
The highlight of the evening will be the Powerlist Celebration of Black Excellence Awards, where this year’s most influential Black figure in Britain, Dean Forbes, CEO of tech company Forterro, will be recognized. Forbes, a philanthropist and business leader, has been praised for his charitable endeavors through the Forbes Family Group Foundation.
Expressing his gratitude for the prestigious title, Forbes emphasized the importance of resilience, community support, and seizing opportunities. He aims to inspire young Black individuals to realize their potential and work hard towards their aspirations.
New additions to this year’s Powerlist include Andrew ‘Rapman’ Onwubolu, the creator of Netflix’s hit show Supacell, and Damson Idris, star of the crime drama Snowfall. The exclusive list also features prominent figures such as actor Idris Elba OBE, TV presenter Alex Scott MBE, and rapper Stormzy.
The Powerlist event, sponsored by JP Morgan, will be hosted by Tim Campbell MBE, providing inspiration and entertainment throughout the night. Michael Eboda, CEO of Powerful Media, commended Dean Forbes for his contributions to the community, highlighting his exceptional dedication to philanthropy.
