Rory McIlroy expressed gratitude towards his spouse, Erica Stoll, during his triumph speech at the Masters, a year after omitting acknowledgment at Augusta. Just twelve months following his emotional Grand Slam victory at the same venue, McIlroy convincingly defended his title, claiming the £3.3 million top prize once again.

Despite losing his substantial six-shot lead in the third round of this year’s Masters after dominating the initial two rounds, McIlroy showcased resilience to outperform contenders like Cameron Young, Justin Rose, and Scottie Scheffler. His exceptional performance in the back nine secured him a two-shot lead that he maintained until the end.

Even with a missed putt on the 18th hole, McIlroy secured a comfortable win with a tap-in putt. In his victory speech, he specifically acknowledged his wife, Stoll, a gesture that received praise compared to the previous year’s omission.

Furthermore, McIlroy extended his gratitude to his parents, who missed his previous Masters win, thanking them for their support and influence on his life. This year’s victory, while by a narrow margin, was a more relaxed affair compared to his previous triumph that required a playoff.

McIlroy’s resilient performance and composure under pressure hint at a potential third consecutive Masters win in the future, joining an elite group of golf legends. Additionally, Sky has enhanced its TV and sports bundle to include popular streaming services alongside extensive sports coverage.
