A British man tragically passed away after being struck by three vehicles in a motorcycle accident. Craig Davies, 50, originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, lost his life in a collision in Chiang Mai, Thailand, at approximately 12:20 am local time.
Davies lost control of his KTM 1290 Super Duke near an underpass on the Chiang Mai-Lampang Highway and was thrown off his motorcycle, subsequently being hit by three passing vehicles. Regrettably, he was declared deceased at the scene.
Described as a “deeply traumatic” incident by Police Lieutenant Colonel Adulsiri Wongtankard of the Mae Ping Police Station, the crash is under investigation with security camera footage being reviewed. The authorities are still gathering information, expressing sympathy for the victim’s family and the others involved in the distressing event.
Craig, an avid motorbike enthusiast, had purchased his high-end bike for approximately £30,000. Following the accident, his body was taken for a post mortem examination at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.
It was revealed that Craig, who resided in Thailand and traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, operated two businesses remotely selling health supplies. Tributes have since flooded in for the businessman, with his friend Aomkhwan Pronpan expressing gratitude and bidding him a peaceful journey.
The Chiang Mai Special Rescue Unit cautioned drivers to be vigilant on steep roads, especially during nighttime, emphasizing the dangers of wet or dusty surfaces and the heightened risks posed by excessive speed.
